Gaurav Chaudhri - CTO of Reliance General Insurance on ChatGPT with ETCIO

Published By: ET CIO.com

Published Date: 22-02-2023

ChatGPT has sparked widespread curiosity about AI capabilities, attracting over a million active users with its versatility across content creation, brainstorming and coding in languages like Python and SQL. Companies increasingly adopt it for information organisation, research, business planning and sales copy optimisation.

Gaurav Chaudhri, CTO of Reliance General Insurance, views ChatGPT as ""a leap forward in AI-augmented search"" with significant language capabilities. He highlights its potential to build conversational systems with specific inputs that enhance information aggregation and productivity across industries. Chaudhri believes the ChatGPT engine can develop cross-functional knowledge spanning underwriting, actuarial analysis, finance and technology, ultimately improving decision-making and automating processes.

Other tech leaders share similar perspectives. Jalteerth Patwari from Uber Delivery notes AI applications provide ease of use across products, with Large Language Models benefiting both B2C and B2B interactions. Gaurav Kachawa of Gupshup predicts increased integration of tools like Auto Bot Builder into customer experience stacks, while Jijy Oommen of Aavas Financiers emphasises ChatGPT's ability to maintain conversation context through threading. The article also addresses cybersecurity implications. Candid Wuest, VP of Cyber Protection Research at Acronis, explains ChatGPT's dual nature - helping defenders identify threats through language analysis while potentially enabling basic cybercrime. He warns about risks, including plausible phishing email creation, improved localisation capabilities for non-English attacks and malware generation, noting that ""although the code quality generated by auto-pilot and ChatGPT are not great, they make mistakes as well.""

Industry consensus suggests that implementing AI requires deep domain expertise, defined use cases and value models, with both benefits and challenges still being discovered.
