Vehicle Registration Karnataka Process

Online RTO Karnataka Vehicle Registration

  • Step 1 - Visit the official website of the Transport Department of Karnataka.
  • Step 2- From the top tab, find and select Parivahan and click on Vehicle-Related Services.
  • Step 3- On the new page, find and click on Apply for New Registration and then select For Temporary Registered Issued Vehicle.
  • Step 4- Add your temporary registration number provided by the vehicle dealer or manufacturer and click on Proceed.
  • Step 5- Complete the application form, submit the necessary documents, pay the application fee, and book an appointment for vehicle inspection at the nearest Karnataka RTO.
  • Step 6- On the day of the appointment, take your vehicle to the RTO, let the officer conduct necessary checks and inspections, and, upon approval, collect your new RC or have it delivered to your address.

Offline RTO Karnataka Vehicle Registration

  • Step 1 - Go to the nearest transport office to complete an in-person car registration at Karnataka RTO.
  • Step 2- Request for a Form 20 or download it from the Parivahan website.
  • Step 3- Submit the form along with other required documents to the officer in charge for verification.
  • Step 4- Once done, pay the application fee and road tax to complete the application process.
  • Step 5- The officer will then inspect your vehicle.
  • Step 6- Once approved, your vehicle registration will be completed, and your new RC will be sent to your registered home address. You can also pick up the RC from the RTO once approved.

Online Process

  • Step 1 - Visit the official website of the Transport Department of Karnataka.  
  • Step 2- From the top tab, find and select Parivahan and click on Vehicle-Related Services.
  • Step 3- Next, select the nearest RTO from the dropdown list and accept the terms and conditions before clicking on Proceed.
  • Step 4- On the new page, click on Renewal of Registration from the list of online services.
  • Step 5- In the space provided, enter your vehicle registration number and the last five characters of your engine chassis number before clicking on Verify Details.
  • Step 6- Upload all the required documents, book your appointment at the nearest RTO, wait for inspection, and upon approval, collect your renewed RC from the RTO.

Offline Process

  • Step 1 - Go to the nearest RTO with your RC booklet and other required documents to renew your car registration in Karnataka offline.
  • Step 2- Collect or download Form 25, fill it out accurately and submit the completed form along with other required documents to the officer in charge.
  • Step 3- Next, pay the required renewal fee to process your RC renewal application.
  • Step 4- Once the RTO officer has completed your vehicle inspection, your application will be approved or rejected.
  • Step 5- If approved, you can collect the renewed RC from the office or contact the Karnataka RTO contact number to have it delivered to your home address.

*Note that you must book the renewal appointment at least 60 days before the expiry date.

How to Check Registration Status in Karnataka?

You can check Karnataka RTO registration status both online and offline. The online process to track vehicle status at Karnataka RTO is as follows -

  • Step 1 - Visit the Parivahan Sewa portal> Online Services > Vehicle-Related Services.
  • Step 2- On the next page, select your state as Karnataka from the dropdown list, and select your nearest RTO on the next page to proceed.
  • Step 3- On the new page, click on Status and click on Know Your Application Status.
  • Step 4- Next, add your vehicle registration number or application reference number in the space provided and then select Proceed to view your application status.

To check the status of your vehicle registration offline, visit the nearest transport office, meet the authorised RTO agent in Karnataka, provide your RC details and other additional information as required, and get a status update.

Process to Complete Karnataka RTO Ownership Transfer

  • Step 1 - Visit the official website of the Transport Department of Karnataka. From the top tab, find and select Parivahan ​and click on Vehicle-Related Services.
  • Step 2- Select your nearest RTO on the next page and click on Proceed.
  • Step 3- On the next page, select Transfer of Ownership by Seller and accept the pre-check instructions before clicking on Proceed.
  • Step 4- In the space provided, enter your vehicle registration number and the last five characters of your engine chassis number before clicking on Verify Details.
  • Step 5- Confirm the details on the next page and then upload the required documents, including Forms 29 and 30, vehicle insurance, and proof of identity.
  • Step 6- Once done, pay the applicable fee, get an inspection conducted if required, and wait for approval. Upon approval of the car ownership transfer in Karnataka, a new RC with the new owner’s details will be issued.

Process for Road Tax Payment in Karnataka
