Here are some practical tips to help you secure the best international travel insurance premium rates.
Obtain quotes from multiple insurers to find competitive international travel insurance premium rates. Comparison shopping can highlight the most cost-effective options.
Selecting a higher deductible can lower the international travel insurance cost. This means you will pay more out-of-pocket in case of a claim but save on the upfront premium.
Shorter trips and low-risk destinations often entail lower premiums. Plan your travel accordingly to minimise costs.
Use the discounts through online purchases or specific payment methods. These can significantly reduce the cost of purchase of travel insurance.
Evaluate your needs and choose coverage that matches them without unnecessary add-ons. This ensures you get adequate protection without overspending.
Understanding the relevant factors can help you manage and potentially reduce your international travel insurance premium:
One of the primary factors influencing international travel insurance premiums is the traveller's age. Elderly individuals generally need to pay higher premiums due to the increased risk of health issues and medical emergencies.
The length of your trip significantly impacts the premium. Longer trips expose travellers to more risks, thus increasing the cost of overseas travel insurance. Shorter trips usually attract lower premiums.
Some destinations may have higher healthcare costs or are considered risky, leading to higher premiums. Conversely, travelling to low-risk areas can lower your international health insurance costs.
The extent of coverage you choose affects your premium. Our Platinum plans offer extensive benefits, including trip cancellation, emergency evacuation and high medical coverage, which will cost more than a Standard plan.
Different international travel health insurance plans cover different needs—individual, family, multi-trip or single trip. The premium changes based on your needs and the type of insurance plan you choose.
Your medical history and any pre-existing conditions play a crucial role. Individuals with pre-existing health issues or senior citizens may face higher premiums as insurers consider them risky.
Many countries require international travel insurance as part of their visa or other regulatory requirements to ensure travellers can handle emergencies.
For instance, the Schengen group of countries require Schengen travel insurance for visa approvals.
Travel insurance is mandatory for the countries listed below:
However, you should buy international travel insurance for all destinations for a safe and worry-free trip, irrespective of any visa mandates.
International holiday insurance covers trip cancellations, lost luggage and medical emergencies. Additionally, health insurance for overseas travel is crucial since it provides coverage for medical treatments abroad, which domestic health plans typically do not cover.
Indian citizens can travel to several countries without a visa or obtain a visa on arrival. This facilitates smoother international travel and lessens the administrative burden. Some destinations offer visa-free entry for specific durations, while others provide visas upon arrival under certain conditions.
It's essential to check each country's specific requirements before travelling, as these can vary and may be subject to change. Having international trip medical insurance can be beneficial.
While travelling abroad, multi-country travel insurance becomes essential, ensuring continuous coverage across different destinations and protecting against unanticipated events throughout the journey.
Before planning an international trip, it's crucial to take specific precautions to ensure safety and well-being. Proper planning and preparation can prevent many issues during your travel.
Get necessary vaccinations and carry a first-aid kit. Ensure you have sufficient foreign medical insurance to remain worry-free during your trip.
Carry all essential documents, including your passport, visa, and travel itinerary. Check if trip insurance for international travel is mandatory.
Stay informed about local laws and customs; keep valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings to avoid any troubles during your journey.
Purchase the best international trip insurance to cover risks like trip cancellations and medical emergencies. Get international health coverage.
List emergency contacts, including local embassy information and keep them accessible. These are important when travelling outside India.
These precautions help ensure a safe and enjoyable international trip, safeguarding against unpredicted events and providing necessary support when needed.
When travelling to popular international destinations, securing appropriate international trip insurance is crucial. Travel insurance for international travel provides comprehensive coverage for various emergencies, ensuring a hassle-free trip.

You can opt for reimbursement for facilities like OPD and doctor consultation which cost lower than a hospitalisation.
From the date of receipt of the last documents, it will take approximately 30 working days for the final settlement of the claim.
The original ticket/ boarding pass or a copy of the passport indicating the travel dates i.e. visa with entry and exit stamp plus the original bills and vouchers must be submitted along with the completed claim form for all claims.

Please refer to the policy schedule for contact details.
A sub-limit is a limit placed on a specific type of coverage within an insurance policy. In travel insurance, a sub-limit is placed on the coverage for medical expenses for insured members of a specific age. So older members will be able to utilise only part of the sum insured amount for a medical emergency because of a sub-limit.
The claim procedure involves intimation and settlement.
The first step you take is to inform the Emergency Service Assistance Provider (EASP) by calling them on the Help Line number or via email. The hospital has to get in touch with the EASP and confirm if they want to accept the cashless facility and submit all the medical documents and bills to the EASP. Post this, the EASP will assess the claim and place a Guarantee of Pay (GoP) to the hospital.
In case the hospital does not agree to the EASP’s GoP, you can settle the bill with the hospital and later get reimbursed from Reliance General Insurance.
