    Diagnosis

One of the best ways to diagnose the severity of Alzheimer’s disease is by sharing all the behavioral changes, symptoms with the doctor. In this procedure, a member of the family can be of big help. Other than this, your doctor may also ask you to go through some of the diagnostic tests that help in understanding the patient’s thinking skills and memory.

Lab tests: Blood tests will help your doctor in ruling out vitamin deficiencies or thyroid disorder as they are the potential cause of memory loss.

Neuropsychological testing: This type of testing is important as it helps the doctor understand the thinking of the patient. Also, this type of test helps in tracking the progression of symptoms in the future.

Brain imaging: Your doctor will use the image of the brain to see if there are any abnormalities related to conditions other than Alzheimer's disease-like trauma, strokes, or tumors.

In the case of severely growing dementia, your doctor mat recommends other tests.

    Treatment

As of now, there is no cure available. However, with the help of prevention and some medications, a patient suffering from Alzheimer’s disease will have some relief. There are basically two types of drugs that are used to treat symptoms:

Cholinesterase Inhibitors: These drugs help in preserving the chemical messenger that gets reduced in Alzheimer’s disease.
