Renting a Car for Going to Office vs Buying One

Every year there are several new car launches and several new rental services emerging in the country. It becomes quite daunting to decide whether buying a car is more beneficial or hiring one. In light of this constant debate of which is better, here are some pros and cons of both, rental cars and owned cars.

Rental Cars

Rental car services are your savior if you can't drive or don't want to drive. You can easily download applications of various rental car services and book one as per your convenience.

Let' see what are the pros and cons of renting a car for going to the office.

Pros

  • Variety:With rental cabs or hiring cars you can hire one-trip cabs, book a car for an entire day with or without chauffeur, rent cars on a subscription basis, etc.

  • Ease:With the touch of a finger, you can book a cab, sit in the back seat, and relax. You can use this commutation period to catch up on your mails, messages, or calls.

  • Navigation:Rental car or cab chauffeurs have a great sense and knowledge of direction and roads. They are also equipped with GPS devices to use when needed. Just feed in the location and leave the rest to them.

  • Traffic:If you're travelling in a rental car, you don't need to drive yourself out of those annoying traffic jams. You can relax in your seat while the chauffeur navigates you out of it and get you home all safe.

  • Cons

  • Surge Pricing: You will regularly find soaring prices on the rental car app making it almost impractical to hire one.

  • Unavailability: If you live in a remote location or in an extremely busy location, chances are, you will have a hard time finding a car to hire.

  • Buying a Car

Buying a car is definitely a one-time investment that needs to be thought through. It does come with its own pros and cons. Here are a few of them:

    Pros

  • Safe: It is any day safer to use your own vehicle than renting one. Given the cases of misconduct by drivers, women and children should opt for using private transport.

  • Availability: Self-owned cars are always there at your disposal. You don't have to wait to book a cab to go out. Just grab your keys and out you go!

  • Insurance: You can simply buy car insurance for your car and ensure safer traveling. The insurance process has been made easier with the option to buy car insurance online.

  • Value for Money: Self-owned cars can save you more money in the long run than renting cars or hiring cabs on a regular basis. While taking long trips, it will probably end up costing half as much each time.

  • Cons

  • Frustration: Driving a car in traffic and on roads filled with people can get frustrating.
  • Fuel: Not just the cost of refilling the tank but even standing in the line for gas takes up quite some time.
Now that you know the pros and cons of both these options, it is your turn to decide what works best for you!
